These Protea earrings were made by us, in the Bus. We turn natural Protea hearts into wearable, earthy pieces, showcasing the natural beauty of their patterns.
Each Protea used in our jewellery has been ethically and sustainably harvested in the Huon Valley, Tasmania. They are sanded by hand to reveal the amazing patterns and Nature Matrix beneath. Interestingly, these self replicating matrices are different to the Fibonacci sequence, and are instead determined by environmental conditions rather than a consistent mathematical sequence, making each piece truly unique.
The Proteas used in our earrings are naturally cured and polished with 100% organic linseed oil and Australian beeswax. Even after this curing process our proteas still retain their signature subtle spicy fragrance.
We use surgical steel earring hooks.

As these earrings are made from natural seedpods, they will gradually begin to deteriorate over time if exposed to soaps, beauty/body products and excess water. If this exposure does occur, simply re-coat with linseed oil or beeswax.
