Solar Setup

The Bus has an extensive solar setup that not only allows for off-grid living, but also runs a mobile workshop.   Two solar panels totalling 750W are mounted permanently on top of the roof, and when stationary a further two can be utilised. These extra panels pull out from underneath the top panels, extending manually on closed bearing rollers.   Future plans for these involve two linear actuators that are controlled via a remote. When all panels are out the system totals 1400W.  Inside the bus is a hand assembled 5kWh lithium bank, which is comprised of cells from Spark Lithium.   With no sun this battery bank provides about 5-6 days worth of power.

  • Step 7

Hand assembled 200ah 24V prismatic lithium bank with 250A BMS. Lithium cells supplied by Spark Lithium.

  • Step 8

Custom roof rack designed to house two solar panels on closed bearing rollers. These panels are manually rolled out when stationary.

  • Step 9

The second roof rack is secured to the front of the Bus and the wing installation is finalised.
